The One With the Late Thanksgiving

Thursday, 20 November 2003

Phoebe goads Monica into hosting Thanksgiving, then the others turn up an hour late from a hockey game and a baby pageant, so Monica locks them out until a call from the adoption agency ends the standoff.

What happens

• Monica and Chandler tell the others they are not hosting Thanksgiving this year.
• Phoebe suggests Monica's cooking has slipped, and Monica takes the bait and agrees to cook after all.
• Phoebe asks to enter Emma in a baby beauty pageant, and Rachel agrees once she hears about the thousand-dollar prize.
• Chandler turns down Joey's hockey tickets for Monica's sake, but Ross and Joey go without telling him and then stay for extra play they cannot afford.
• Rachel wants to leave the pageant, and Phoebe talks her into staying by claiming a judge rated Emma above every other baby.
• Ross and Joey meet Rachel and Phoebe in the hallway and learn that all four of them are late.
• Ross reads the trophy, works out that Rachel entered their daughter in a pageant, and tells her it is inexcusable.
• Monica and Chandler watch through the peephole, spot Joey's foam finger, and realise the men went to the game.
• Monica offers to let everyone in for the pies, then finds out Rachel and Phoebe never collected them and refuses.
• Joey wedges his head in the doorway and cannot get free, which forces Monica and Chandler to work with the others.
• Monica takes a call from the adoption agency and tells Chandler that a pregnant woman in Ohio has chosen them.
