The One in Barbados (Parts 1 & 2)

Thursday, 15 May 2003

The friends travel to Barbados for Ross's keynote, where Chandler's meddling brings Mike to Phoebe's proposal dinner, Rachel tells Joey she wants him, and Ross ends up kissing Joey's girlfriend Charlie.

What happens

• Phoebe accidentally calls David by Mike's name and admits to Monica that she still misses her ex.
• Chandler suggests David show Phoebe he is open to marriage, and David immediately decides to propose.
• Chandler opens an infected email that wipes the only copy of Ross's keynote, and Charlie offers to rebuild it from memory overnight instead of having dinner with Joey.
• Monica telephones Mike in New York to tell him about the proposal, and he refuses to interfere and hangs up on her.
• Joey drags Rachel into a pharmacists' convention on stolen name badges, then teases her afterwards until she nearly admits which man she wants.
• Mike turns up at the restaurant and proposes first, Phoebe turns David down, and David leaves the hotel alone.
• Charlie and Joey realise they are enjoying the holiday apart rather than together, and they sit down to end the relationship.
• Rachel confesses to Joey that she has wanted him for a month, and Joey refuses her because of Ross.
• Monica injures her hand at match point, so Chandler takes over the paddle and beats Mike, revealing that he has been hiding how good he is.
• Charlie tells Ross she has feelings for him, they kiss, and Rachel walks in on them.
