The One With the Inappropriate Sister

Thursday, 17 December 1998

Ross, bored on sabbatical, forces Joey onto a writing schedule for a movie he can star in, while Rachel dates Danny and discovers his visiting sister is disturbingly close to him.

What happens

• Ross reorganises the apartment fridge out of boredom and tells Joey he is on sabbatical rather than unemployed.
• Phoebe signs up to ring a charity bell for the holidays and is given a prime corner outside Macy's.
• Monica arranges a Friday date between Rachel and Danny on Rachel's behalf, and Rachel drops her plan and accepts.
• After Joey loses a role that suited him, Ross suggests Joey write his own movie and offers to keep him to a daily schedule.
• Joey and Chandler invent a fire-based ball game instead of working, and Ross returns to find a single sentence written.
• Rachel meets Danny's sister Krista and realises she is the girl from the subway, then watches the two of them wrestle.
• Chandler accuses Ross of riding Joey only because he is bored, and Ross tears up the hockey tickets to end the argument.
• Phoebe turns hostile towards donors, and her supervisor pulls her off the Macy's corner and hands it to another collector.
• Rachel calls off her second date with Danny over his closeness to Krista, and leaves when Krista summons him to a shared bath.
• Joey finishes his pages, and the script turns out to be a scene forcing Ross and Chandler to apologise to each other and thank him.
