The One Hundredth

Thursday, 8 October 1998

Phoebe gives birth to her brother's triplets, decides she wants to keep one and is quietly refused, while Joey passes kidney stones and Monica's date with a nurse forces Chandler to define their affair.

What happens

• Phoebe checks into the hospital to deliver the triplets and tells the nurse that her brother is the father.
• Ross and Rachel report that Phoebe's own doctor has injured herself and will not be coming, so a replacement named Dr. Harad takes over.
• Rachel arranges dates with two male nurses for herself and Monica, and Monica tries to refuse without giving a reason.
• Chandler tells Monica he is fine with the date because the two of them are only fooling around, so Monica decides she will go out with the nurse after all.
• A doctor diagnoses Joey with kidney stones, ending the assumption that his pain was sympathy for Phoebe.
• Phoebe admits to Rachel that she wants to keep one of the babies and asks Rachel to sound Frank out about it.
• Rachel raises the size of the family with Frank, and his delight at having three makes it clear he will not part with any of them.
• Phoebe delivers all three babies, and the child Frank and Alice had expected to name Chandler turns out to be a girl.
• Chandler tells Monica that what they are doing means more than fooling around, and Monica goes to cancel on the nurse.
• Rachel tells Phoebe she never asked Frank, and Phoebe says goodbye to the babies alone and settles for being their aunt.
