The One Where Chandler Takes a Bath

Thursday, 17 January 2002

Joey admits to Phoebe that his feelings for Rachel have not gone away, Ross and Rachel learn their baby is a girl, and Monica turns Chandler into someone who loves taking baths.

What happens

• Joey tells himself his feelings for Rachel are gone, then buckles the moment she walks in and greets him.
• Joey tries to raise the problem with Chandler by hinting about rules and London, gets nowhere, and asks him to forget the whole conversation.
• Phoebe settles the baby-name argument by proposing that Ross and Rachel each get five vetoes, and both agree.
• Monica talks Chandler into the bath she has run for him, and he comes out converted.
• At the doctor's office Ross and Rachel decline to be told the baby's sex, then Ross catches Rachel sneaking a look at the file.
• Monica and Chandler pool their odd conversations with Joey and decide he must be in love with Phoebe.
• Monica tells Phoebe that Joey likes her, and Phoebe decides to turn him down rather than risk the friendship.
• Phoebe tells Joey she knows, Joey names Rachel instead, and he seizes on Phoebe's suggestion that it is only a crush.
• Ross phones the doctor for the baby's sex and then accidentally tells Rachel they are having a girl.
• Joey walks in on the others in the bathroom and his feelings for Rachel come out in front of Monica and Chandler.
