The One With Rachel's Date

Thursday, 25 October 2001

Rachel dates one of Joey's soap co-stars and it ends when she mentions the pregnancy, while Ross realises his old picture of family life must change, and Monica and Phoebe both try to get rid of Tim first.

What happens

• Monica introduces Phoebe to Tim, her new sous chef, and pushes the two of them into a date.
• On the soap set, Joey introduces Rachel to his co-star Kash, and Rachel embarrasses herself with how much she knows about him.
• Monica tells Phoebe she has to fire Tim for being incompetent, and Phoebe persuades her to give him one more chance.
• Joey admits he turned Kash down on Rachel's behalf because she is pregnant, so Rachel orders Joey to have Kash call her and keep the pregnancy quiet.
• Chandler talks his boss out of transferring Bob to the eleventh floor, because Bob has called him Toby for five years and Chandler has never corrected him.
• Monica decides to fire Tim the same day Phoebe plans to dump him, and the two of them argue over who gets to go first.
• Ross learns Joey set Rachel up on a date and starts panicking about the men his baby will be around.
• Ross tells Joey his picture of Sunday mornings with a wife and child no longer has Rachel's face in it, and Joey tells him to build a new picture around the baby.
• Monica fires Tim and Phoebe dumps him at the same moment, and Tim's gracious reply shames Monica into giving him his job back.
• Rachel tells Ross the date collapsed once Kash heard she was pregnant, and Ross comforts her with what the baby will be like.
