The One With Joey's Porsche

Thursday, 21 October 1999

Ross's failure to file the annulment becomes public, and Rachel's false court forms leave the pair needing a divorce instead, while Joey borrows a stranger's Porsche keys and Phoebe babysits Frank and Alice's triplets.

What happens

• Rachel tells the others that Ross never filed for the annulment and that the two of them are still married.
• Joey finds a set of Porsche keys left at Central Perk and goes off to leave a note on the car.
• Phoebe asks Monica and Chandler to help her babysit, admitting only after they agree that the charges are Frank and Alice's triplets rather than puppies.
• Rachel, with nowhere to live, agrees to move in with Phoebe while Phoebe's roommate Denise is away.
• The owner of the Porsche turns up and takes his keys back, leaving Joey without the car.
• Chandler concedes that his action figure is unsafe for the babies, having swallowed one of its parts while trying to prove otherwise.
• The judge reads Rachel's invented claims about Ross, rules that the pair do not qualify for an annulment, and tells them to file for divorce.
• Joey keeps up the pretence by dressing head to toe in Porsche clothing.
• Phoebe minds all three babies alone and wrecks Monica's apartment doing it, and Chandler defends the mess as the price of her success.
• Rachel signs the divorce papers and admits that marrying in Vegas was her own idea.
