The One Where Phoebe Runs

Thursday, 11 November 1999

Joey's new roommate Janine turns him down after he tries not to flirt with her, Rachel is embarrassed by Phoebe's flailing running style, and Chandler rearranges Monica's apartment while cleaning it.

What happens

• Joey brings home Janine as his new roommate, and Monica learns he never interviewed her beyond asking when she could move in.
• Monica, Ross and Chandler talk Joey out of asking Janine out, and Monica warns him against flirting with her too.
• Rachel takes Phoebe running in the park, where Phoebe runs with her arms flapping and her legs splayed, and Rachel is embarrassed to be seen with her.
• Rachel tells Phoebe that Monica hurt her ankle rather than admit the real problem, and Phoebe later catches Rachel sneaking out to run alone.
• Chandler cleans the apartment and moves Monica's things out of place, and Ross convinces him that Monica will be furious about it.
• Joey asks Ross and Chandler to teach him how to repel women, and the two of them list their own worst habits for him.
• Rachel apologises and tells Phoebe the truth about the running, and Phoebe calls her uptight rather than change how she runs.
• Joey tells Janine that they cannot date because they live together, and Janine replies that she was never interested in him that way.
• Rachel tries running Phoebe's way in the park, decides she loves it, and makes up with Phoebe.
• Monica spots every object Chandler moved but tells him she appreciates the cleaning and never expected him to match her standards.
