The One With the Embryos

Thursday, 15 January 1998

Chandler and Joey bet Monica and Rachel that they know them better, and the quiz Ross writes ends with the women losing their apartment, while Phoebe has Frank and Alice's embryos implanted.

What happens

• The chick next door turns out to be a rooster and its crowing wakes Monica and Rachel before dawn.
• Chandler and Joey claim they know the women better than the women know them, and Chandler correctly names the cookies hidden in Rachel's shopping bag.
• The four bet ten dollars on the rest of the groceries, and Chandler and Joey guess every item.
• Monica demands a rematch for a hundred dollars with personal questions, and Ross agrees to write the quiz.
• The doctor tells Phoebe her uterus is ready, but explains there are five embryos with only a one in four chance, and Frank and Alice admit they can afford a single attempt.
• The quiz runs close, and Rachel loses a point by giving Chandler's real name instead of the one on the magazine label.
• Phoebe speaks to the embryos in the dish before the doctor implants them.
• A tie forces a lightning round, and Monica keeps raising the stakes until Chandler offers the birds against the women's apartment.
• Monica and Rachel cannot name Chandler's job and lose the game with it.
• Rachel refuses to move out, but Monica insists the bet stands and starts packing.
• Phoebe takes the pregnancy test Frank and Alice brought and tells them it worked.
• Both pairs finish unpacking in each other's old apartments.
