The One With the Ballroom Dancing

Joey gets Monica and Rachel evicted by confronting the superintendent, then wins them a reprieve by becoming Treeger's ballroom dance partner, while Phoebe loses her job over a client she kisses.

What happens

• Rachel jams a pizza box into the trash chute that Mr. Treeger has just spent half an hour clearing, and he calls her a pampered princess until she cries.
• Chandler admits he has been paying for a gym he never attends and cannot make himself cancel, so Ross agrees to go along and stiffen his resolve.
• Joey demands an apology, and Treeger answers by threatening to tell the landlord that Monica is illegally subletting her grandmother's apartment.
• Phoebe confesses that her next client is a man she is attracted to, and she refuses to hand him to another masseuse.
• Joey reports that he has got the women evicted, and Monica orders him back downstairs to grovel.
• Chandler loses his nerve at the membership office, and while he is inside, Maria signs Ross up as a member.
• Joey offers to do anything to keep the women in the apartment, and Treeger's price is that Joey partner him for a superintendents' dance so he can impress a woman named Marge.
• Ross and Chandler go to close the bank accounts funding the gym, get handed to another beautiful employee, and leave with a joint checking account instead.
• Phoebe tells Rick about her crush, he offers to switch masseuses, and her boss walks in on them kissing and fires her.
• Joey and Treeger finally land the routine, Treeger decides he is ready to dance with women, and Joey turns down the invitation to come along.
